What kind of business are you looking for? Would you like to start a janitorial service where you clean homes and businesses? There are a few large franchises like Molly Maids, Merry Maids, Jan-Pro and others that are franchises, many are independent and there is a lot of room for new combers!
First you need to see what licenses you need, check with the city for help, another source is S.C.O.R.E. they are the Senior Citizens Of Retired Executives who can offer a new business a view of what you will need to start and be successful, you can find them online or in the yellow pages!
Of course crowd funding is a great way to get the financial assistance needed to start a business as I posted in other posts, so to have I had the inspiration to seek crowd funding for my future business I am starting!!
Start a business plan before you jump in there are a number of planning sites on the Internet if you need there are free and pay for the better ones so start there as well to get an idea what you will need for virtually any business!

Event planning is big business, if you eve worked in the modern hotels like Sheraton or the Hilton then you will know that dinners, awards banquets and other event planning id big business so there are other businesses as well that make good revenue streams!
Consulting is a great business if you have any expertise in manufacturing or business relations then this is an area that should be considered. Lookup consultants on the Internet and see the variety of consultants and see if you are needed!!
